Mind & Body

20130110_090517As its name suggests, Mind/Body Health is a treatment approach that complements conventional medicine. The two work in harmony to provide a greater level of well-being than either might achieve alone. Other terms used to describe Mind/Body Health include holistic healthcare, integrative healthcare, and alternative healthcare (although alternative may refer to treatments that are alternatives, rather than complements, to conventional medicine).

Mind/Body Health includes a wide range of specific treatment methods, including massage, tai chi, yoga, stretching, strengthening, and balance & flexibility. Mind/Body Health can be used to enhance conventional medical treatments for conditions such as infertility and cancer. It can be used in combination with psychotherapy to address chronic stress and anxiety, or more severe mental health conditions such as eating disorders.

Uncover the transformative power of a quiet mind and ensure renewal of a healthier you through a combination of movement, breath and meditation.

A committed yoga practice will enhance your stability, improve your balance and flexibility and leave you stronger, healthier, more energized and centered for your day.

Tai Chi

Tai chi is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might well be
called “medication in motion.” There is growing evidence that this
mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in
treating or preventing many health problems.

Pilates

Pilates teaches you how to train your mind and build symmetry and coordination in the body. By emphasizing proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and concentration on smooth, flowing movement, you become acutely in tune with your body. You actually learn how to control its movement.

In Pilates the quality of movement is valued over quantity of repetitions. Proper breathing is essential, and helps you execute movements with maximum power and efficiency. Last but not least, learning to breathe properly can reduce stress.
